Description
RAVNIN2 is especially characterized by high resistivity and relatively low price when compared with other nickel-chromium alloys. In spite of its relatively high iron content, this alloy is scale and corrosion resistant and non-magnetic.
Applications
It is suitable for high-value electrical resistors and for heating wires for any application, also for heating cords and cables. The maximum working temperature in air is 600oC when used for resistance wires and 1050oC when used for heating wires.

Machinability
This alloy is tough and show high strength at high temperatures; they thus tend to 'welkd together' with the tools. This must be taken into consideration when drilling, threading or sawing. Under ceratin circumstances it may be more favourable to use hard, i.e. un-annealed alloys.
Corrosion Resistance
At room temperature this alloy exhibit good corrosion resistance in the bare condition. It should be kept in mind that oxidized of Cr-Ni alloys can be destroyed when stored in a moist environment. Corrosioin resistance at working temperature are:
Corrosion resistance in air and other oxygen containg gases: high
Corrosion resistance in nitrogen containg gases with little oxygen content: high
Corrosion resistance in sulphur containg gases: medium
Welding
This alloy can be easily be spot-welded.
Aging: The aging temperature should not exceed 140 because of the sensitivity to heat of the wire insulation. Bare wires slighly begin to oxidize above 100, this oxide layer can be removed by pickling.
