Description
Al-free nitriding steel for relatively large cross sections, and also for higher nitriding hardness as a result of its chemical composition.
Applications
Suitable for gear wheels, cylinders, drills, connecting rods, shafts, extruders, quides, thread gauges with relatively large-cross section.
Physical properties (avarage values) at ambient temperature
Modulus of elasticity [103 x N/mm2]: 210
Density [g/cm3]: 7.80

Soft Annealing
Heat to 650-700oC, cool slowly. This will produce a maximum Brinell hardness of 248.
Hardening
Harden from a temperature of 870-910oC followed by oil quenching. Hardness after quenching is 64-66 HRC.
Nitriding
Temperature: 480-570oC. Hardness after nitridng is 480-570 HV1.
Tempering
Tempering temperature: 520-570oC.
